FREQUENT ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT CRONICARE
What is hemp?
Hemp is a variety of Cannabis sativa plants with specific size, fibre and biochemical profile traits. Cronicare uses exclusively those Cannabis sativa varieties that are allowed for animal feeding in the European Union.
What does hemp provide?
The hemp used in CroniCare has a very complete nutrient profile for pets: different phytocannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, fatty acids, antioxidants, minerals, B vitamins…
Hemp contains several phytocannabinoids that help each other to be metabolised quicker in comparison with the separate molecules. This synergy is known as the Entourage effect.
How do phytocannabinoids act?
Phytocannabinoids interact with the endocannabinoid system (ECS), a complex regulatory structure of mammals that includes receptors, ligands (endocannabinoids) and synthesis and degradation enzymes. Two major receptor types have been described (CBR1 y CBR2), that are found in several tissues: the central and peripheral nervous system, immune system cells and tissues, liver, skin, digestive tract… Through them, the ECS participates in the maintenance of the homeostasis of a great variety of physiological processes.
Why does CroniCare contain fish oil?
Fish oil is one of the best sources of omega-3 fatty acids, mainly EPA and DHA, that promote an optimal cognitive, cardiovascular and joint health.
What are the advantages of animal omega-3 fatty acids?
Cats and dogs have a limited ability to take advantage of plant omega-3 fatty acids. However, fish oil provides the omega-3 fatty acids that the body can use directly without the need of transforming them. This causes a quicker and more effective response.
What are medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs)?
MCTs are a fraction of coconut oil used as a source of energy, supporting brain and cognitive function.
